Durgapur to Bagda Bike Ride – A Soulful Journey to Odisha’s Hidden Beach
Introduction: When the Road Calls You Forward
Every journey begins with a feeling — a restlessness to move, to explore, to breathe beyond routine life. Our Durgapur to Bagda bike ride was born from that feeling. It wasn’t just a road trip; it was a journey of freedom, brotherhood, and self-discovery.
Riding with my fellow members of TKRP (The Kings Riding People), this trip became more than just travel. It became a story written on highways, beaches, and silent roads — a story that will stay with me forever.
Starting the Ride – A Cold Morning, A Warm Spirit
The journey began at 3:20 AM from Durgapur, when the city was still asleep. The air was cold, the streets were empty, and the sky was wrapped in darkness. One by one, engines roared to life, breaking the silence of the night.
There is something magical about starting a ride before sunrise. The world feels paused, and the road feels like it belongs only to you. As we crossed the Durgapur Barrage, the chilly wind hit our faces, reminding us that this was going to be a long yet beautiful journey.
Riding with TKRP added a special energy to the trip. The discipline, coordination, and brotherhood within the group made the ride smooth and enjoyable. Riding together, maintaining formation, and stopping together created a rhythm that made the long distance feel effortless.
Through the Heart of Bengal – Roads That Tell Stories
As we moved through Barjora, Beliatore, Garhbeta, and Salboni, the landscape slowly changed. Small tea stalls opened by the roadside, farmers began their day, and the golden morning light spread across the fields.
The cool winter air mixed with the smell of tea and soil — a feeling every biker lives for. The roads were calm, traffic was light, and the ride felt cinematic. Every kilometer brought new views, new moods, and new excitement.
Crossing into Odisha, the environment changed noticeably. The roads became quieter, greener, and more peaceful. Villages appeared occasionally, children waved as we passed, and the noise of city life faded away completely.
Arrival at Bagda Beach – Where Silence Speaks
After riding nearly 306 kilometers for almost 10 to 11 hours, we finally reached Bagda Sea Beach around 2 PM. And the moment we arrived, everything felt worth it. Bagda is not like commercial beaches filled with crowds and noise. It is raw, peaceful, and beautifully untouched. The sound of waves, the endless stretch of sand, and the cool sea breeze instantly washed away the fatigue of the ride. Standing there, looking at the vast Bay of Bengal, it felt like time had slowed down.
Stay at BlackBerry Resort – Comfort by the Sea
We stayed at BlackBerry Resort, Bagda, a calm and comfortable place close to the beach. After such a long ride, the peaceful environment of the resort felt perfect. A special thanks to Sunil Kamila, who took great care of us throughout our stay. His warm hospitality, helpful nature, and attention to comfort made our experience even better. From arranging meals to guiding us about nearby places, he ensured everything went smoothly. The evening at Bagda was magical. As the sun slowly disappeared into the sea, the sky turned shades of orange and purple. The sound of waves and the cool breeze created a moment of pure peace — the kind you want to hold on to forever.
Day 2 – Exploring the Spiritual Side of Odisha
The next morning began with fresh air and the calming sound of waves. After breakfast, we started our journey to explore nearby spiritual destinations.
Panchalingeshwar Temple – Nature Meets Spirituality
Our first stop was Panchalingeshwar Temple, located amidst hills and greenery. The road leading to the temple was scenic and refreshing.
The temple is unique because water continuously flows over the Shiva Linga from natural springs. The sound of flowing water, surrounded by nature, created a deeply peaceful atmosphere. It felt less like a temple visit and more like a spiritual retreat.
Emami Jagannath Temple – A Peaceful Ending
From Panchalingeshwar, we continued towards the Emami Jagannath Temple. We started around 10:00 AM and reached by 4:00 PM, enjoying the scenic ride in between.
The temple complex was clean, well-maintained, and spiritually uplifting. Sitting there after such a long ride brought a sense of calm and fulfillment. It felt like the perfect ending to an unforgettable journey.
